supported our Third Annual An Evening For Art With A Heart For
Children October 10, 2008.
Art With A Heart For Children is a 501 (c ) (3) organization that
is committed to providing hospitalized children with an opportunity
for expression and creativity through fine art instruction. This
program enables patients to discover their artistic voice while
exploring their personal healing journey.
The program was co-founded by cousins Lori Guadagno and Lisa Landwirth
Ussery in 2001. Their dream was to improve the quality of life for
hospitalized children and they believed that they could achieve
this through the healing power of art. To date, Art With A Heart
For Children has served over 10,000 children at Wolfson Children’s
Hospital and the Nemours Children’s Clinic in Jacksonville,
Florida.

Our
Mission
Art With A Heart For Children embraces sick or injured
children with a personalized art experience that enhances
the healing process and brings joy and hope to patients
and their families.

Healing
through Art
Art is highly transformative and an excellent vehicle
to allow patients to gain self-confidence and self-esteem
in their healing journey. Through an art dialogue, life
stories can be visually narrated while scars heal, disease
is battled, and bodies mend.

|
The Artists
Five days a week, our professional artists visit Wolfson
Children’s Hospital and Nemours Children’s
Clinic with paints, brushes, pastels, and paper to create
art sessions individualized to meet the needs of each child.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Art Studios
With the help of the “Art Cart” temporary
art studios are set up in children’s rooms (bedside),
the Dialysis Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care, the Behavioral
Health Unit, the Emergency Room, and various playrooms
throughout the hospital.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Masterpieces
Participants in the program are encouraged to donate
a special ”masterpiece” which is displayed
throughout Wolfson Children’s Hospital and the
Nemours Children’s Clinic. The art pieces are
rotated on a regular basis, and the Traveling Exhibit
shows a selection of works in different venues throughout
Jacksonville.

Visiting
Artist Series
Our monthly Visiting Artist series exposes children
to a special arts lesson taught by local artists volunteering
their time and sharing their talents in varied art mediums.
