We’d like to thank all of you, contributors, sponsors, friends, and families, for helping us to achieve this remarkable milestone. Our loyal supporters have enabled a small organization to grow and expand our art education programming in Wolfson Children’s Hospital, Nemours, and now in the Ronald McDonald House. To date, Art with a Heart has provided over 200,000 contact hours to more than 23,000 child patients. A 10th Birthday Celebration was held at the Aetna Building which included the raffle drawing for an Apple iPad which raised more than $2,000 dollars for the program. Thank you again for an amazing 10 years!

Art with a Heart in Healthcare Hires New Executive Director
A native of Jacksonville, Ms. White has a diverse and distinguished background in both the local art and business communities. Prior to becoming an artist, Ms. White's research in the field of neuroscience convinced her that experimenting with art can facilitate healing the brains and bodies of seriously ill patients. Her goal is to bring art to the forefront of innovative medicine and to make Art with a Heart in Healthcare a model for best practices nationwide. Ms. White said "It is a privilege to join this group of extraordinarily talented and deeply committed artists who have already shaped the lives of tens of thousands of children through art. Each of us who works at Art with a Heart in Healthcare has personally experienced art as healing.
Art with a Heart in Healthcare announces that Ms. Tayloe McDonald White, a well-known local artist, is joining our team as Executive Director.
Catie Cares Donation Drive
When asked how she hoped to change the world through art, she smiled and offered, "One brushstroke at a time."
In honor of Catie Carter's caring spirit and her love of art, Catie's family joined Mandarin Christian High School to organize a fundraiser to benefit Catie's favorite organization, Art With a Heart in Healthcare.
Hundreds of art supplies were donated at the high school's last home football game. The spirit of Catie's generosity will bring art and healing through this generous donation. On behalf of all of us at Art with a Heart in Healthcare and the patients and families we serve, we thank all who donated and honored Catie's memory by supporting our program.
In January of this year, Art with a Heart in Healthcare began providing art sessions at Ronald McDonald House, a "home away from home" for families who travel to Jacksonville so their child may receive medical care. Each week our artist in residence, Jennifer Lail, facilitates "Art in the House", a three-hour art session where patients and their families create works of art together using paints, colored pencils, and collage materials.
Since January, more than 450 children and their families have benefited from the healing effects of creating art with our professionally trained artist and volunteers.
"Special thanks to the Art With a Heart team for making my children feel really special. We love it! Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart."

Spotlight on Kristen McLauchlan - Chair of the Board of Art with a Heart in Healthcare
Kristin McLauchlan - CEO, Legacy Trust Company
1. How did you get involved in Art with a Heart in Healthcare?
I started my involvement with Art with a Heart on a committee that was planning a fundraising event. Since then I have been involved in a few volunteer capacities and was lucky enough to be asked to join the board a few years ago.
2. Why is AWAH important to you?
Art with a Heart is important to me because first and foremost, I am a mom and I have been blessed with healthy children in my life. My heart goes out to families that are dealing with a child that has an illness. I think the service that we provide not only helps to nourish the children that we serve, but also the families. As a parent, there is nothing better than seeing joy in your children's eyes. Art with a Heart in Healthcare does that.
3. What qualities do you bring to AWAH as a board member?
I hope that I am able to bring my organizational skills to the program along with some sense of guidance in terms of growing an organization.
4. What is one goal you have for AWAH?
I would like to see Art with a Heart grow into an organization that is an integral part of the medical fabric of our community. Someday, I would love to see Art with A Heart duplicated in other communities.
5. Any quotes or mantras that you live by?
Dreams with a plan become reality....
6. Do you have anything else to share?
I think Art with a Heart is driven first by the "Heart" and this organization wouldn't have the heart it does without the dedication of the incredible people associated with it, particularly those that are involved on a day to day basis. So, I would like to say THANK YOU to everyone that puts their heart into the organization.
Art with a Heart in Healthcare would like to thank Kristin McLauchlan for her five years of dedication and service.
